Never forget your customers and they’ll never forget you.

A quick blog post about Permission Marketing, Databases, Email Marketing, Newsletters and all that “contacting your database stuff”

I love this stuff! So first and foremost, to name names, the superstar who keeps me well informed around this “stuff”, is the amazing Meqa Smith.

One of my favourite questions in my business when it comes to email marketing is “how often should I send out a newsletter”? And my answer is NEVER! Personally I loath them because I’m busy and I don’t have time to read and read and read… until I find the ONE thing that is useful to me.

Ah-ha! “Useful to me? you say”! And that is the key. What I do have time for is the savvy suppliers who email me the cool stuff I need and want. It’s targeted, it’s concise and it hits the spot.

And how often should you send out specific, targeted info? The answer is… As often as it’s relevant. That could be daily, weekly, monthly, whenever. As long at the recipient needs and wants it. Think of sporting updates, some people want them hourly. It’s all relevant to the market and the information.

I know this stuff is easier said than done, but you’ve gotta start somewhere right! So because I’ve spent what feels like 100 years creating a fab network of people. I MUST start keeping in touch with them more strategically, I’ve FINALLY started getting my database in shape. Starting with my active clients before moving onto people like inactive clients, prospects, cold leads, strategic partners and the list goes on.

On Meqa’s recommendation, I’m using send pepper and I’m categorising my contacts. This is so I can more easily serve up relevant information. (i.e. if they have staff, I can give them helpful info on staff).


Oh, and here’s a good example of how simply keeping in touch with your customer, is the cheapest and easiest way to market your business. I recently had my car detailed at home. The guy was awesome, the price was right. Now I’d like to call that guy again, but I didn’t keep his card (who does?). If he was sending me a text (or email) every now and then, I’d book in. But I never hear from him… Where are you car detail guy???

A wise and successful man (and mentor) once told me… Never forget your customers and they’ll never forget you.
